I don't honestly know how this compares to other Japanese places in Stuttgart, but it's just OK as compared to Japanese places elsewhere in the world.
I came for the Ramen so that's what I ordered first. The Tonkatsu Ramen was reasonably priced, but the broth had very little taste - it made me wonder if they really made it from bone or if they used a miso base to save money? The egg was a hardboiled egg, so the effect of the yolk in the broth was completely lost.
Unsatisfied I decided to try some sushi. For a place marketed as authentic, they were really obsessed with maki. I ordered some a la carte nigiri which was fine - but the garnishes they chose were unedible so it really took away from the experience.
The place was cute and the server was nice, but at these prices I expected better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brittney G.Fletcher Hills, San Diego, ABD7915122 Tem 2019
Walked in and the aroma was already taking my taste buds for a ride. Was greeted by the staffed and sat down almost immediately. Ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen and the flavors took my mouth on a joy ride to the heavens. I definitely recommend this place and I can't wait to go back.

There are few authentic Japanese places that are truly authentic but many who claim to be. Tokio Dining happens to be one of the true ones, however you will pay for it. 23,80 for unagidon seems insane to me. This isn't your dine everyday place...this is your I've got a craving for good sushi and ramen place and I'll pay anything for it place. It's conveniently located near a train stop but the parking lot around the stop has abundant parking spaces.
I decided to go with one of their set dinners for 44 euros. Started with a bowl of edamame, sashimi salad, chicken karaage, gyoza, bowl of miso ramen, and green tea ice cream. What I love is that you can customize it to some degree. Each dish was fresh and tasty...and honestly not terribly priced for what you get.
My husband on the other hand got a plate of sashimi that was 34 euros along with his entree.
Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. His English was discernible. There are Japanese staff that deliver the food and their English is not so discernible but their Japanese is great! What I love and miss about Hawaii is the wonderful Japanese service and it's nostalgic to get it here. The graceful, polite service that the Japanese are known for is enough to keep me coming back, despite their higher than average prices.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Amy L.Kent, ABD26660187910 Tem 2017
We were so excited to go here! We waited outside for it to open, and a staff member came out to put out the OPEN sign. I noticed she smelled really bad, like... Strong chemicals? Bad Detergent? Or,... Toilets? But stronger and worse. I hoped the inside of the restaurant wouldn't smell bad too. We pulled back the noren and stepped up and inside -
What is this smell?!?!?!?!!!!?
It was so gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The waitress was explaining how they were booked up with reservations all night, but we could sit at the counter, and all I could think was,
What the hell is this disgusting smell?!?!?!?!
I thought, well, maybe we can order something to go, but even my husband, who's rarely on my side when I say a place smells and I want to leave, even he said, no, let's just leave.
残念!店が臭いからそこで食べられないなんて、みっともない。
I have no idea how people can stand to eat there. 不思議過ぎる。Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Yoko K.San Jose, ABD112139 May 2019

Friendly staff and they rock a great bowl of authentic udon.
For a time they had the fantastic Owa Japanese beer brewed in Belgium -- ask them for it so we can get it back on the menu!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hok K.Corona, ABD0227 Nis 2014
Tried the spicy miso ramen. Coming from California, this is very good. According to Keiko san, their ramen is imported from Japan, thus the reason why it's expensive, but it's worth it. Will definitely go back for more.

The food is really good, authentic and comes in a good portion. Service with a smile, quite the norm for Japanese service culture. Better to make reservations before going to secure a place. The Katsudon and Okonomiyaki are really well-done in general. Service can get a little slow when crowded but still within reasonable expectations. Lovely ambience, cosy with local Japanese feel. Very cute place to dine-in for good cuisine.
